Yesterday we had a very tough day
black fishing. Today was a new story. We had 10 anglers
today and our limit of keeper black fish. The average
fish was 3lbs and the pool was caught by Eddie pony tail
with a 6 lber. Since we finished early we are going
diamond jigging. Lots of rods already hooked up with
blues and bass first drift! Hopefully the good fishing
we had today will continue!

11 anglers caught 34 black fish. High hook was split by frank
campo with 5 keepers (orl) and richard kerr from Commack with 7
keepers (orl) both had a bunch of shorts. No cereal for anyone
tonight! The pool fish was caught by Jack Barret from sound
beach with a 7lber and John Doe caught an lber but didn't go in
the pool. Black fishing is starting to heat up. Call a head for
reservations or book online.

Weather has kept us at the dock for a few days but finaly got
back out with beutiful conditions. Unfortunately the water has
not cooled off as much as we had hoped. It is still in high
50's. Dispite the warm water some anglers were luckier than
others landing some decent size fish. Some limits were caught
around the boat by experienced anglers. The bite isn't red hot
by any means but it is showing signs of improvment with healthy
fat colorful fish. Let's hope this is the sign for good things
to come
November 3, 2009
21 anglers voted yes for fishing today. We had a good pick of
blackfish up to 8 lbs. Pool winner was JC from Commack. Because
of heavy moon tides the black fish bite slowed for the end of
the day and The last hour of the trip was spent diamond jigging
for striped bass and blue fish. Which was very successful
although no keeper bas were caught there was a ton of action on
every drift with all the shorts and blues you could want.

Today's fishing continues to be solid with 1-3 lb porgies coming
over the rails. Some managed to catch their limit. Today's pool
fish was an approximate 10 lb blue caught on a porgy rig with
other large blues as well.
Spots have opened up on tomorrow's trip so if you are
interested, you can call the house or book on line.
Come on down when the fishing is red hot!
Hope to see you at the rails

The phenomenal porgy bite continues. It seems like there is an
endless amount of porgies in the sound this year with enough of
a mixture of seabass, striped bass and blues to keep it
interesting.
Today's catch saw 1-3 lb porgies with many limits around the
boat.
This Thursday morning, Saturday morning and Sunday night all
tickets are sold other than that there is plenty of room at the
rails for you.
So sharpen your hooks, pack a big lunch and come out and catch
your limit aboard the Osprey IV.

people catching their limit while others had between 20 and 30 fish.
Patty and Charlie from Rocky Point Fish Stop caught their limit of 2-3
pound porgies.
Amongst the porgies were blues and seabass.

September 13, 2009 Showed up to work today but all the rain and wind
scared away the full boat we should have had with just a few hardy
anglers ready to fill there buckets with Giant Porgies.
I went along to fish today. I had left all my "high teck" fishing gear (
as my father calls it) at home grabed a boat rod spooled with mono and
moved around from bow to stern and caught my limit in no time at all.
Even the Ron Poliel Pocket Fisherman got brought out today and caught
several double headers. Limits were caught by everyone with lots of
blues and sea bass in the mix.
Porgies were between one and three lbs.

I went fishing today. with all the great reports, I wanted to
get in on some of the fantastic fishing. Boy am I glad I did. It
was lock and load porgy fishing today with most catching their
limit. As soon as you hit bottom you had a fish on. If you were
not quick enough to reel up your porgy, a large blue was there
to feast. Blues, porgies and seabass were caught along with a
few short striped bass.
Thank you Captain James and crew for another great day, I highly
recommend you come on down and get in on this great fishing. We
are also sailing at 4:30 pm daily.

A report in at the end of today's morning trip proved that the beginning
of the day was a good indication of the whole trip. 14 VERY HAPPY PEOPLE
most catching their limit of very large to Jumbo scup, Mixed in with the
scup about a dozen seabass and 15-20 various sixe blues. Pool fish was
an 11 lb blue.
I would say come on down and get in on this very good fishing but
tomorrow's morning trip with projected winds 15=20 knors out of the

This is Meghan posting for Captain Amanda. Today is the Osprey’s first
full day wreck and bottom fishing and things could not be better. It’s
10 AM and already every bucket on board is filling up with giant
porgies. Some fares have already caught their limit and the rest are
catching up with 20 or more fish. Along with the porgies there have also
been plenty of blues and sea bass mixed in. Weather permitting Amanda is
planning to continue to fish these wrecks as long as they produce.
Yesterday was the boat’s last day of half day trips and they finished
off with a bang. The noon trip sent everyone home with a nice meal of
porgies and some blues. Michael Bauer took the pool with a 32 inch Bass.
The 4:45 trip was a porgy bonanza. Donald Bunch “Porgy Time” was high
hook for the night and he led the battle cry as everyone brought their
catch over the rails.
The osprey will be sailing everyday now from 7-3 and again at 4:30pm.
Please call to make a reservation to save your spot for this phenomenal
fishing.

Fishing report last night aboard the Osprey IV from Captain James and
Capt. Amanda wsa that the fishing was phenominal! Started out diamond
jigging blues with keeper striped bass mixed in as well as lots of short
bass. There was not a time when someone did not have a fish on, they
left the fish biting and switched to porgies. Nice mix of medium to
Jumbo Scup. All in all a fantastic night of fishing.
This morning started out Jigging, quality fish coming up mixed with nice
eating size blues, not as ferocious as last night but very productive.
Switched to porgies, doing well on the porgies so far will post later
tonight with an update.
Starting Tuesday morning we will be wreck fishing from 7-3 for a mixed
bag of bottom fish. The fare will be $60.00 for adults, $55.00 for
Seniors and $45.00 for children. Come on down and get in on some of this
great fishing.

Hi,
This is Meghan posting for Captain Stew. I just spoke with Captain
Amanda for an update on the last few trips. It seems the porgies have
done a disappearing act. This is most likely due to the moon. But the
crew is still keeping the buckets full because the Blue and Bass action
is on fire. Yesterday, the boat saw a ton of 2 pound blues hit the deck
with some gorillas mixed in. Bass were plentiful with 8 keepers landed
and many shorts hooked. The boat will be sailing tonight at 4:45 to take
another hit at this action. On the fluke front, there has been a lot of
life with some nice keeper fish. There is plenty of room on tonight’s
trip, so come on down and make some memories on the Osprey.
Happy Fishing,
Meghan

A report from Captain Amanda on today's fishing.
This morning's trip saw 10 keeper fluke with around 300 shorts. Lots of
fun and nice keepers as well.
The 12 pm trip is out catching blues that popped up and at 1:15pm the
boat had 5 blues per person. When they catch their limit of blues they
will then switch over to porgies or fluke.
Great combo trips, we try and send you home with something in your
bucket, lots of fun and great memories too.
Come on down and get in on the fun!

Just talked to the boat, Sounds of very
happy fishermen in the background. Captain Amanda shared that
the entire boat limited out on the largest porgies that have
shown themselves so far this year. Unlike last night, the
porgies bit all around the boat. Hopefully fishing like this
will keep up A switch over to fluke is taking place now and they
will finish the night drifting for fluke and looking at the
lovely sunset. Beautiful night, great fishing and wonderful
people made this an unbeatable night.
Hold off on mowing your lawn and weeding your garden, it is time
to come fishing now.

Captain Amanda reports the day boat caught a mixture of porgies and
fluke. The fluke bite was hot with 300 short fluke caught, some people
catching 20 to 30 fluke. The pool fish was a 5 pounder. Porgie fishing
was on fire with everyone limiting out.
The 4:45 boat saw some nice quality porgies caught. No shorts all night.
The afternoon fishing started out slow and when they hit, the bite was
mainly in the stern, so when the stern fishermen limited out they were
kind enough to slide people in a few at a time to get in on the action.
Very close to limiting out the entire boat.
Beautiful day, really nice people and I will take that kind of quality
over quantity any day.
Come on down and bring the family.

Report from Captain Amanda who shared that the morning trip saw some
fantastic fluke fishing lock and load large north shore throwbacks. 10
beautiful keepers were amongst them. George Clamso winning the pool with
a nice 6 lb fluke. Nice pick of porgies until Captain Amanda followed
the consensus aboard the boat and went back to fluking.
She called around 5:30 this evening to say they were a few fish short of
the limit on porgies and they were getting ready to switch over to fluke
or another pelagic species.
Plenty of room this week on both trips, come on down, bring the
youngsters or young at heart capture a few fish and memories that last a
lifetime.

Report from Captain Amanda from this morning's 7am trip. Beautiful day,
nice people, 6 Year old Brandon Beberman won the pool with a keeper
fluke. Probably close to 100 fluke caught this morning the biggest
throwbacks ever, lots of fun to catch. Switched over to porgies and a
fair amount of porgies captured as well.
Perfect trip for your children.
Lots of room this pm trip, come on down

A report from Captain Amanda was that "we are a severe combo
boat today" The fishing was challenging but due to multiple
change ocers from the crew, we managed a nice variety of fish.
If you crank the handle you got blues, Porgies were more
tempermental but the ones that came over the rails will make
generous portions.
Hard work for the crew but that made the day.

This is Barbara, Captain Amanda's mom, the voice at the other end of the
telephone.
Amanda called to report a really good morning trip. There was s nice mix
of porgies, bass and blues.
High hook on the porgies was Jason with 14 rol.
Porgy fishing was a little spotty this morning with some anglers getting
there limit. 4 keeper bass were landed along with 15 shorts, and
bluefish coming up all around the boat
The highlight of the trip was the pool winner 9 year old Shoja Kato from
Hartsdayle NY. with a 20 lb bass.
Fishing 2 species together really made the day great.
By fishing the mix everyone got off the boat happy and with fish.
The weather looks good for the rest of the week.
happy fishing

Sunday started out with the 7 am trip seeing
a good shot of porgies, some nice blue fish and some keeper
striped bass.
The noon trip, plenty of sunshine, really nice people all
wondering where the porgies went. Fish have a way of humbling
Captains at times. Did manage a shot at the blues.
On the 4:45 trip, the porgies turned back on with a very good
bite of paund to 2 pound porgies,
Will be back to the 7 am trip tomorrow as well as the 4:45 trip.
Come on down, bring the kids and have some fun.

Just got a call in from Captain Amanda. This morning'a trip was all you
could ask for. The weather was great, the people fun and the fishing
fantastic!
Started the day with diamond jigging for blues and bass, 30 short bass 7
keepers and 160 bluefish. Switched over the last hours for porgies nice
pick up to 2 lb fish. Most anglers secured their limit.
I'm going on down to jump on the noon trip, you can call for
reservations or just come on down and get in on this great fishing!
Sailing again today at noon and 4:45pm, plenty of room.
June 16, 2009
Received a call just now from Captain Amanda with an update on today's
fishing.
Porgy bite was off some during the morning trip due to the east wind.
Had another nice showing on striped bass. 10 keepers to 20 lbs and
somewhere near 30 throw backs.
tonight's 4:45 trip saw some of the finest kind porgies, all dinner
plate size and she was on her way to get some striped bass.
Will fill you in on the details later.

Took my wife out for an evening of fishing
with Captain Amanda at the helm of the Osprey IV.
It was just nice to sit back and relax and let someone else do
the driving.
First drift was a total bail job on porgies and it stayed that
way until the tide started running hard.
Spent the next few hours fishing for striped bass. Quite a few
shorts and I believe 5 keepers and more runoffs than you could
count.
All in all it was a great evening, nice to say we left them
biting, but had school kids on the boat or we would probably
still be there.

A report in today from the boat during the
12pm trip from Captain Amanda.
The tide and wind were conflicting today making for difficult
drifting conditions. Managed 2 keeper fluke with the 14 people
aboard. Tom from Holtsville has a 5lb fluke that thus far is the
pool fish.
The last hour of the trip she switched over to catch some
porgies. Awesome does not even describe the phenominal 2 1/2-
3lb porgies coming over the rails. In a few minutes, everyone
had their limit and are now catching and releasing.
Come on down and get in on the great action. We are sailing
daily for porgies at 4:45pm. Starting Tuesday we are targeting
them on both trips.
regards,
Captain Stew
PM
Captain James ran the 4:45 trip yesterday afternoon it was
instant access to a wild bite. All the porgies you could
possibly want catch and release after 10 and it was a lot of
fun.
The last full day fluke trip is tomorrow, then we will be
combining (Porgies, blues and an occasional striper) during the
day.
So grab your raincoats and your kids and come out and have some
fun aboard the OSPREY IV. We cab have a good time even if the
sun is not there.
regards,
Captain Stew
June 13, 2009
Porgy fishing last night was everything we expected. We dropped the
anchor and it was instant lock and load.
Customers were culling the fish as they were caught keeping even bigger
and bigger fish. Limiting the boat out in 2 hours.
This action should hold up for a while. Sunday's day trips will be for
fluke which has been exceptional this year.
Monday will be the last day of fluke fishing till the season reopens.
If you are a fluke fisherman ready for a paradigm shift, our combo
trips, Porgies, blues, seabass and striped bass might be the motivation
for you.

Today we sailed with a light deck of only 6 people. We caught our 12
keepers and went home early. Everyone left with a nice bag of fluke meat
:).
So far this year of Fluke on the North Shore had been one of the best in
a few years. No one had such high expectations and would have believed
with a 21 inch size limit that it would be so good. We are seeing limits
all around the boat with fish up to 9.25lbs (our record fish so far)
Straight bait as well as bucktails have been producing and an equal
rate. On the slower drift pink, blue and green bucktails seem to do the
trick and on a faster drift the long leader spinner rigs are producing.
The fish are spiting up shrimp and sand eels this year. Hopefully this
fantastic run of big fish keeps up.

Went out with a light crowd today total fishing with crew was 7

Lots and Lots of life on the porgies. 100's of porgies

4:30- Slaughter of the biggest porgies that we have seen this year.
Captain Stew ran the boat and put the boat right on the meat and everyone caught
there limit or very close of gaint porgies.
Sept. 29, 2008
21 fares today. It wasn't a slaughter like yesterday but we
still caught about 450+ porgies and 40 or so bluefish. A TON OF LIFE with the
little fish. It looked like we were going to have a bail job of jumbo scup but
the bluefish moved in and killed the bite at one of the spots. We caught more
than double of what we kept in shorts so there was constant action all day. The
kids are off from school so bring them out for some good old fashioned family
fun . ITS PORGY TIME!
4:30 - Some really nice size scup came up tonight with biggest was 15 inchs.
Lots of shorts still in the mix so it wasn't dull. High hook was 20.
Sept 28,2008
Old school fishing today. It was like one of the days that
your grand father talks about barrels of fish and it never seems like it going
to end. Now I'm no newbie when it comes to cutting scup and when it takes me
from 12pm-4:30pm to clean all the fish on the boat.... that's a hell of a day!
We had around 900 fish today. 100 or so of them we blue fish. there
we 35 passengers on the boat. I'm very excited for tomorrow.
4:30- Boy scouts came out tonight. Some really nice porgies can over the
rails. lots of shorts. but more than enough for dinner :) .
Sept.25, 2008

Aug 5, 2008
Had 26 fares today Limit on the scup by 9:30am. Switched over to
blue fish had our limit of them by 11:00am. Switched over to fluke had about 100
shorts and 1/2 dozen keepers. Over 700 fish were caught. Awesome fishing today!
-Amanda
4:30
Captain Stew Killed them again tonight. Had all you could want of 6lb blue
fish. Jigged most of the night. Switched to Porgies and had 50 or so Jumbo scup
drifting in the area that the blues were caught. Thanks dad- now I know where to
do tommrow night!
Aug 4, 2008
Captain Amanda and Captain JP did a quick wash down and headed out
for the afternoon Porgy trip today. Amanda asked me to post for her which I am
glad to do but the way she described the fishing I wish I was on the boat today.
Today's totals were 15 fares 7 keeper fluke, 70 short fluke, 120 Porgies, 100
blues.
Doesn't sound like the August doldrums at all. Lots of action for all those on
board. This was the first really good showing of bluefish for the summer.
Better late than never, it was good to see them and even better if they stay.
regards,
Captain Stew
Sat- 7-11 7 fares over 100 short fluke, 8 keepers up to 6lbs.
12-4 13 fares
200 short fluke. 10 keepers up to 4lbs. Few cock tail blue fish.
4:30 10 fares Steady pick of porgies all night. Few keeper sea bass. ended up
with about 90 keepers and a 6lb fluke.
Started out bottom fishing. Had about 40 Jumbo Porgies. 100's of shorts and sea
robins and 10 keeper fluke up to 6lbs.
They had there heart set on blue fish and stripped bass so we left the amazing
fluke bite early. I think if we would have stayed there we would have done even
better.
We jigged deep water rock piles and bam 2 keeper bass. 29inchs and 31inchs. Lots
of Jumbo blue fish up to 10lbs and fish fallowing each other up.
Then they ran out of beer... so back to the dock we went.
Lots of fluke and porgies around. Great action for the kids plenty of room on
the weekend boat! Shouldn't be crowded come on down!
July 31, 2008
7am- Very good fluke fishing. 15 fares about 15 keepers Few
porgies and tons and tons of shorts.
4:30 Awsome porgie fishing. several limmits with some nice Jumbo scup. Mostly
caught drifting.
July 29, 2008
Started off for scup in the morning. Had 14 fares and our boat
limit by 9:30. Switch over to fluke and the bite was savage. I was on deck today
and between netting fish and cutting them I didnt have a min. to breath.
Thankfully I had young Jimmy Presser on the boat with me who did a wonderful
job! Watch out Dom... This kid is good!
We ended up with our boat limit of scup at least 100 short fluke and around
20 keeper fluke.
High hook was south shore Mike with 3 keepers and his limmit of porgies. Liz had
the pool most of the day until her cousin stole it was a 9lber! Nice fish!
July 27, 2008
7-11 10 fares 60 keeper porgies. Good pick in the
beginning of the trip and tapered off in the end.
12-4 24 fares slow beginning of the trip. Ended it with a bang. Double
headers flying over the rails. Several limits around the boat. Over 100 keeper
scup. All around 2lbs or better.
July 26,2008
7-11 27 fares- slow pick at the porgies. Some nice
size ones mixed in with a bunch of shorts.
12-4 Only 7 Fares on the noon trip today but much better fishing. Boat limit
caught. Very Good action with Jumbo scup.
4:30- 42 fares Ended up with a little over 100 scup for the night. Very mixed
sizes but action with the shorts.
July 25, 2008
7-2 Awesome scup fishing today! 13 fares had their limit by
9:30. Caught and released allot. A handful of sea bass in the mix. Pool fish was
a 6lb blue fish. Afternoon was slow on the blue fish and fluke. (we tried
for fluke because the blue fish weren't cooperating.) Great day.
4:30 27 fares. Had about 170 scup. Picked at them all night no bail job but
still good fishing. The pool fish was a 22 inch fluke.
July 24, 2008
7-11 private charter- 35 fares today. Scup bite
slowed down. Most likely to do with the barometric changes from the
thunderstorms. Some nice ones came over the rails.about 50 keepers.
July 23, 2008
Sailed with 9 Fares today. Slow
pick in the morning which turned into a steady pick
which turned into a good pick of very nice size porgies.
A handful of keeper sea bass were caught today also.
Although there wasn't as much action as the past 2 days
the fish were all around 13inchs. After we got our limit
of fish we switched to fluke and managed one keeper.
July 21, 2008/July 22, 2008 7 AM
Sailed yesterday and today with a light crowd. Got our limit on porgies both
days. Monday we scup fished till about 10:00 and then switched and tried to
chunk blue fish. The blues did not cooperate but we had enough porgies to send
everyone home with fish.
Today we could have limited out in about 15 min but we only kept fish that were
13 inches or better. So it tock us about an hour and we caught and released for
a while. We got back to the dock at about 10 o'clock and beat the rain.
Sailing open boat tomorrow. check the Tickets to see if you need a reservation
for any other day.
-Amanda
Thursday July 10th
11 fares today with 12 keeper fluke and over 100 shorts.
Thanks to Chief Mate Dominic, and him scouting for a good spot on his only day
off we knew where to fish with a faster drift today! Thank you Dominic.
A team effort to find fish will keep us in them a lot longer :) James and
Dominic are going out again tomorrow to scout for out extended trip on
Wednesday July 16th.
Wednesday July 9th
28 fares today. Yeasterday we killed them and today
the fast drift killed up. Most of the fish caught today were short.
managed 2 keepers.
7 am 17 fares today. slow pick of fluke. 8 keepers and
about 30 shorts. Lots of Sea Robbins to keep us busy.
Wednesday July 2nd

Tuesday July 1st
6 Fares today with 6 keeper fluke. about 40 shorts.
4:30 16 fares. 120 keeper porgies about 200 shorts. Played the waiting
game tonight. Had to wait for the chum to work and the small fish to leave
the area but it all worked out in the end.
Monday June 30
7-2 11 FARES. 5 keeper fluke 50 shorts. Very
fast drift during the best part of the tide,
4:30- Dark 14 fares. Got our boat limit. Flurries of fish
all night long. Mixed size from small to large.
Sunday June 29th
7-11 Fluke fished putting 5 nice size keepers on deck and a
KEEPER BASS! Some action with the shorts.
4:30-dark - 12 fares limit on scup. Slow pick of mixed fish all night.
Everyone only kept the big ones
Tomorrow because of the tides we will be targeting mostly fluke. We may take
a shot on the blues and porgies later on in the day but the full fluking has
been productive and I would like to see what damage we can do on a full day with
a switching. But you know me - I take what I get so if it is slow there is
always the options to catch blues and bass or scup!
Sat June 28th
Had a 8-2 Charter. Flukes again today. Got about 40 short fluke
and a few nice keepers up 8lbs. The fish are very healthy!
4:30-dark Open boat
60 Fares. Scuped tonight. 400 keepers and ALOT of short action.
Fri June 27th
19 fares Fluked most of the day today, had less shorts than the
day before but more keepers. switched to the scup for a while but it wasnt the
right tide for them and only picked a few. But we put 15 really nice
keeper fluke up to 6 1/2 lbs.
Thurs June 26
7 AM 11 Fares
Great Fluke fishing today! Best since opening week. We got 12 keeper fluke
and about 30-40 shorts. Everyone went home with a keeper! Dragging bait actually
worked the best today, plain hook with a spearing. We should have had about 7
more keepers but the spit the hook 1 foot under that water. Just waved hello and
said good bye! Awesome day I was very happy to see them come in.
Switched to porgies bailed the little fish only had about 30 keepers in the
boat.
Open boat tomorrow plenty of room! Looks like excellent conditions!
wends June 25
7 AM 12 Fares
jigged blues for 30 min got about 15. Switched to fluke ended up with 4
Keepers up to 6 1/2lbs. Then we switched to porgies and got about 90 scup.
4:30 28 fares
Jigged for most of the night. Didn't crush the blues but we did a little
damage. Very slow pick 1-3 a drift for a while. It was a little breezy so we
were drifting over them fast. A couple drifts were very good.
Switched to porgies and caught a couple at the end so we stayed out and
fished and extra 45 min. hoping it would break wide open but can't win them all.
Ended up with 20 jumbos.
Tues June 24thm
17 Fares
Started out with the day with fluke - 30/40 shorts *if it was last year we
would have had a great day!* 3 Keepers
Switched to porgies with the tide and fished late with the bite. Few short
blast of fish mixed size.
Sun June 23rd
8-3 charter today. Started out porgy fishing at the bottom of the
tide. Drifted around picking fish and then was able to anchor on a pile and have
a really steady pick with lots of double headers. Caught them well. Nice size
fish
We switched over to blues in the afternoon. Drifting very fast caught enough of
them to keep it interesting.
Sat June 22nd
- 7-11 25 fares
I thought it was going to be one of those days where it is just a slow pick of
porgies and the bail job never really happens but I was wrong after picking the
scup all morning we had about a half hour bail job where most anglers reached
there limmit. We tried for some fluke for an hour but didn't get a keeper.
12-4 50 fares
The second trip was slow. The tide just wasn't moving and the fish were not
staying in one spot long enough to bail them. It was a very gentle pick. But we
caught a few and we had fun anyway.
4:30-8:30 42 Fares
We took a long steam to the east to try and locate the scup which have been
sparce in the evenings. We located one! Then we tried for some bluefish and we
located one of those also. The boat however was full of really wonderful people
with a great out look on fishing and as my dad always says- sometimes you catch
them. Sometimes you don't. But time spent with family and freinds is always time
well spent.
June 19th
Great scup fishing again today. Had an 8-3 charter 25 people. Got our limit
on the scup and fluked for the rest of the day.
GOOD FISHING NOW!!
-AMANDA
June 18th
4:30- 9 Fares tonight.
Jigged a ton of blue fish with a few small strippers in
the mix. Got our fill of the blues and moved onto
the scup. Ended up with 50 scup for the night and all
the blues you could want. Yes there was a lighting storm
but keep in mind that they roll through really fast!
Very nice night on the water.
-Amanda
June 14th
Sat- Since fluke has been on the slower side for the
anglers who aren't fimlair with bucktailing and the
porgy fishing has been off the hook we did a combo this
weekend.
Sat 7-11 42 passengers - we started off with porgies and
caught our limit but did not keep all of it. Most of the
families kept what they could eat and then let the rest
go for another day. We fluked for about an hour. ended
up with 2 keepers. The pool was a 7 1/2 lb fluke caught
by Bob.
12-4 56 Passengers- Caught the porgies well again. It
was only a bail job for a few drifts but we caught the
scup very well. Same as the trip before we encourged
everyone to keep only what wouldnt get wasted. The pool
was taken by a top notch angler - Jim Hunt. He got his
fluke weighed at the dock- 8.4lbs!!!
4:30- Private charter 25 passengers. Had a great time
with the rocky point teachers. Always a fun group. The
fishing was a little slow but they seemed to replace
good fishing with good fun. Got caught in a nasty line
squall and took the party back to the dock.
June 12th 4:30 Porgies
Over 40 pasaangers tonight got there limit of scup!
THEY ARE HERE!
June 12th 7am Porgies
took the school kids out from PJ again today. 45
kids caught over 300 porgies. Great job guys!
June 6 4:30 Bass and blues
Rocked the blues tonight. 13 Fares had more
than enough in their buckets and started to throw back blues at about 7 o'clock.
They were the surface fish again but after a few drifts they started to stay
with the boat for a lengthy period of time. They are all cocktail blues- small
good tasting kind. Kids will have no problem reeling them in.
-Amanda
June 6
Sailed with a charter 9am-2pm. with a group of 30. We jigged blues in the
morning. It wasn't as good as it has been, they were spooky surface fish which
always take a few tries to get them to corporate. We are starting to see
stoolies/small stripped bass. Then we went fluking for the last hour. The pool
fish was a 6lb fluke.
June 5, 2008
Lost a few days because of the weather person! but I went out
porgy fishing on my personal boat and they are here! Myself, Jack, James and
Dominic got our 40 in under and hour. Then we and threw back more than our
fare share. Porgy season opens June 12, 2008. It is wonderful for children
and beginner fisherman, Fun easy and they Taste delicious! Porgies for years had
gotten stereotyped as a very bony fish, but The size we catch we fillet them all
ready for you to take home and eat. Make your reservations for opening week.
we are selling out fast! Here are some of the jumbo scup we bagged last year!
June 3rd 7 AM
11 Fares today with 7 Keeper fluke, We diamond
jigged in the morning because the fluking was very slowing in the morning and
broke up the monotony. We fished late with the afternoon bite and came
back in when the wind finally picked up in the afternoon.
June 2nd 7 Am
Fishing was slow this weekend but we did manage
action between shorts and sea robins. Captain James ran the boat and ended
up with 5 Jumbo Keepers for 11 fares. We should have had 6 but one got off at
the surface. We are seeing tons of blue fish all around and the night diamond
jigging trips have started!
George Davie With The pool fish.
4:30 PM JUNE 1st
BLUEFISH! BLUEFISH! BLUEFISH! All the blue
fish you could want tonight. Bobby AND Pat got there limit. While other
fares caught more than enough to fill there dinner plates and there freezers.
10 Fares and 80 keepers. Kyle landed his first fish and
his brother John won his first pool! We will be blue fishing in the after noon
until Porgy season starts June 12. BUT is history holds true we should limit out
on the scup right away and then we can spend the rest of the night throwing the
metal, so don't be afraid of the 10 fish limit.
-Amanda
The fluke bite has been hit or miss for the past week. More shorts showing
up and tons of action with sea robins.
Sunday June 1st- 7-11 - 7 people 20
shorts and some blue fish
12-4- four fares 10 shorts and 2 keepers
7 AM May 21st
7 fares and 14 Keepers up to 6 1/2lbs. The Pool was
taken by clamso-6 1/2lbs.
High hook- was the soon to be infamous Fluke-tress Marilyn, She had SIX
Keepers!!!!
Along with her High hook second place was Freddy Vaiter. With 3 really nice
keepers and several almosts.
The action was not crazy it was a slow pick with a few REALLY good drifts but
the area we have been catching turned back on today. Grind out the whole day and
weed through the shorts and in the end everyone went home with dinner!
Color was green again- very small teasers and buck tails.
SAILING STEADY EVERYDAY! 7 AM- 2PM &4:30-DARK
516-449-3255/631-331-4153
Amanda
7 AM May 20th
6 fares- only 9 keepers up to 6lbs.
Pool was caught by Nick- 4lber- good job staying loyal to your rig!South side
Kenny got his limit! Anyone who wasn't lucky enough to land a keeper went home
with one from the crew.
Very slow pick of shorts. We stayed out a little later to try and land some more
fish- ended up getting 3 more fish than we would have had if we went home on
time.
Have a few guys for tomorrow - open boat!
-Amanda
4:30 May 19th
We had a private charter tonight with 19 passangers. James
was captain. I was on deck with domonic. In the begining of
the trip it was wind with tide- so although there was a
swell it was not as ruff as the morning. We were drifting at
about 2 knots! At slack tide the wind almost dropped but
picked right back up flood tide. we had to end the night in
the harbor but they troopers! We didnt land any fluke but
caught a mix of cocktail blues and sea robbins so the rods
were bending steady.
7AM
Tough conditions today 20-30 knot winds and strong tides.
Went with 6 hardy fisherman! It was slower than normal but
we managed to get 2 keepers.
John Brishano won the pool with a 5lber and Sweet Lou's fish
almost made it. Tonights trip is sold out. We will be
sailing tommorow open boat 7am - Sw 5-10! Perfect fluking
conditions!
-Amanda
May 18, 2008
Light crowd 9 fisherman.
16 keepers up to 7lbs.
colors- green in the morning and really small yellow
bucktails in the afternoon. Congrats to Dominic- It
may have taken him 4 trips to catch a keeper but he
did the right way and caught all 4 in one day! (I
guess the fish were being fussy!)
-Amanda
May 17, 2008
7 AM
Today's trip started out slow, but picked up as the
day went on. By mid-day it was a steady mix Keeper
fluke, Sea robbins, shorts and blue fish. No hot and
heavy action yet but we picked away to make a nice
day, we stayed out an hour later to make up for the
slow morning. We had 9 fares and 14 keepers. The Duke
of fluke Mario just missed the pool to Eddy who
landed a 5lber. The color of the day was green,
green anything.
-Amanda
OPENING DAY! May 15,2008
I could not have asked for a better opening day!
First drift we hooked up with a bunch of shorts a
few drifts into the day the fish kept getting
bigger. We didn't have the best conditions- very
slow drift. 1 oz Buck tails worked the best- white,
spearing blue and my personal faviort- The magic
Bus. The fluke are all fat and chuck full of sand
eels.
We had 10 fares and 20 keeper fluke up to 24inchs.
High hook and Pool winner was John with 9 shorts (up
to 20inchs) and a 6 1/2lber.
Jack was high hook keeper- just missed the pool-
with 3 fatties!
We had about 30 shorts, half dozen sea robins and 4
blue fish.
Hope to see you soon!
-Amanda
October 27, October 28.
Good mix of fish this weekend. Weather constricted us to where we
could fish but still managed a few nice black fish and if you wanted
Porgies they were all over. Now that the moon is over it can only
get better. Good tides and cold weather are here!
Thursday October 18

Sunday October 14, 2007
It was a windy yet productive weekend on the OSPREY IV. The
prevalent fish was bluefish. We slammed them both today and
yesterday afternoon. The porgy bite was off I suspect because of
the rough seas this weekend.
We will be carrying clams as well as green crabs for those who want
to avail themselves to the large scup that inhabit the wrecks as
well as the blackfish.
Wednesday October 3, 2007
Captain Amanda just called at 10:30am to report she has 25 Porgies in
her bucket. Best Porgy fishing she has seen since June. Water temp. is
still too high for Blackfish so we will be more aggressively targeting
them on Oct 15th.
Amanda will be posting an update later today
Come on down and fill your buckets with porgies!! Everyone on the boat
this morning is working on filling their second bucket right now. There
is plenty of room at the rails, no reservations necessary.... so come on
down and get your share! Fishing doesn't get better than this
Friday September 7, 2007
AM/PM
Today's report from the boat was that they had an excellent day on the
water. Captain James started the day with a good shot of porgies, the
kind you expect at the middle ground. As the tide picked up, the bite
slacked off and Captain James switched gears and headed the boat toward
Port Jeff where it was an all out blitz on bluefish.
The afternoon trip for the last 5 nights have been simply amazing. The
fish boiling and exploding on the water it looked like something out of
a movie. For the greater part of the week the action took place in the
harbor and for the last 2 nights just outside the harbor. It doesn't get
better than this.
Wednesday September 5, 2007
PM
Evenings trip- Captain Stew had an all out bluefish blitz and to take a
break also put the boat on nice sized porgies.
Tuesday September 4,2005
AM,
Our fist all day trip for Porgies and bluefish was loads of
fun. Captain Amanda put the boat on the fish all day. A nice
showing of very large porgies and all the bluefish you wanted. PM
Tuesday evening continued the great fishing with Captain Stew
limiting out the boat on blues.
Saturday 9/01/07
AM/PM
This morning's trip had tough conditions, lots of wind, not many fish.
Fished inside for some porgies, caught a few. Whole different ball
game in the afternoon. Slight chop with acres of blues with an
appetite for tin. All out bluefish blitz! With this amount of
fish, fishing should stay good for quite a while.
August 31, 2007
Bluefishing continues to be very steady. On the morning trip,
Captain Amanda found them stacked up on the 11 buoy and in a matter
of hours, managed to limit out the entire boat, tired arms but happy
fishermen. This fishing should stay like this throughout the fall.
Night time trips are seeing the same results. We will continue the
afternoon trip as long as there is interest. So come on down and get
some nice bluefish action.
August 29, 2007
AM Today's morning trip was an all out bail job as Captain Stew kept
the boat on blues.. 23 fisherman aboard, lots of children and lots
of fun. Everyone caught fish. Full moon is really helping with the
good fishing, should remain throughout the weekend.
PM
Tonight Captain Jarad put the boat on blues. Lots of hook-ups, lots
of dropped fish but everyone had fish and was a great time. Come on
out and enjoy the fishing. Fishing is great, and the sunsets
are beautiful. Bring a jacket at night, the air is cooling down
at night now. Hope to see you fishing aboard the Osprey
August 25, 2007
There has been very steady action with the bluefish. We are catching on
every trip, though they are not the size that will win you $25,000, they
are the size that the whole family can enjoy reeling in. Bring down the
family down to the schools of blues before they get the blues at the
other school. We start our fall bonanza, Porgy bluefish combo trips
right after labor day. If you need further info give us a call at
631-331-4153 or visit us at Ospreyfishing.com

Captain Stew

AM
Diamond jigging today for blue fish and bass. Started seeing small fish on the
surface all over the place taking the jigs nicely then they disappeared. Started
to leave the area for other grounds and the fish wouldn't let us leave. Kept
popping up and getting bigger every time we tried to leave until we caught all
we needed and started throwing fish back. Then made a drop in deeper water and
caught a nice keeper bass.
Monday August 12, 2007
AM
The Bluefish action continues at a red hot pace. Today we had a private
charter for the folks of the Suffolk BAR Association. 18 People put 102
Bluefish in their buckets. The pool went to a 10 lber. Now is the

nice ones for him self including a 12 lb blue fish.
Little man Bobby and his brother Walt (ages 7 & 10) left
Dad and Grandpa in the dust by not only by fishing by themselves but landing all
the fish they hooked into.Great
jobs fellas.
We mixed up the jigging with some civilized fishing by
chunking for about an hour or so… looking for some bass as we’ve had 1-3 keepers
to 40lbs per trip.Lots of run offs
but no bass were landed today.
Come on down and experience for yourself MAYHEM AT THE
MIDDLE! Leaving everyday 7-noon and 4:30-Dark.Beat the summer heat, Quit wishin’ and go fishin’ and still be back in
the AC by noon!Bring your Family and Friends.
Monday August 6, 2007
AM
Lots of nice blue fish caught today... first stop wasn't even out the barn
door. We stopped on the minis for the kids because the blue fish we have been
getting are a little to big for them to real in. We got 4 or 5 short bass all
27 inches
Sunday August 5, 2007 7am- 8 fares - 12 Gorilla blues
slow start jigging on monster off the bat but then a little bit of a wait till
we hit them again. Got a few nice drifts and dropped a bunch of blues at the
surface.
4:30- 22 fares- 60 blues and 2 keeper bass
again a very slow start but by mid trip the deck was full of smiles. lost about
20 or so big blues from lines snapping and them surfacing and doing a head
shake. Actully I went fishing and ended up gaffing fish and filleting all night!
Thursday July 5, 2007
Another good day. 10 fares had 25 keeper Fluke with over 100 shorts of
which 30+ would have been keepers last year. The Pool fish was 6 1/2 lbs.
The Action Contiues!

AM Trip
The Morning started out slow put picked up later in the day with 35 keeper
Fluke. The pool went to a 6 lber.
Monday June 18, 2007
It was a slow pick today probably due to the new moon, but 11 fares managed 11
keeper fluke. The biggest was around 5 lbs. with several in the 4.5 lb
range, The bite seemed to pick up in the afternoon, There were
plenty of shorts to provide action along with some eatin' size cocktail
blues and a few short bass. It was a beautiful day on the sound, with a
lot. of bait in the water maybe even too much bait. The weather should be
ideal the rest of the week and the fluke should only get better.
Tuesday, October 31, 2006
30 Fares over 100 keepers up to 8lbs. Pool winner was Bishop Hale, CONGRATS! High hook was 6 fish. The Bite is on!
Monday, October 2, 2006
First official black fish trip of the season. 20 keeper black fish were boated with 16 fares. Several shorts. A decent pick of wreck porgies to keep the day interesting. It was a promising start for the 1st day of the season. Prospects are high as the weather gets colder and water cools the black fishing should break wide open.
Saturday- September 30, 2006 A.M.
Solid pick all day on porgies. Mixed sizes Every other fish was short or Jumbo. A few hundred kept. High hook was 40. A porgy won the pool over a blue-fish!
P.M.
Made 2 drops for porgies, pick was slow size was good. Bait fished for Blue fish the rest of the night. Started out red hot tapered off as we lost the sun. Blues up to 15 lbs.
Monday-Thursday- September 18-24, 2006
Porgies slowed down a bit but there were all the bluefish that you could want. The Porgies that were captured were all plate size so it didn't take many to fill the buckets. The blue fish have taken over the wrecks and it is hard to get the porgy bait to the bottom with out picking up a blue fish.
Sunday- September 17, 2006 AM Trip
A true mixed bag banaza. Porgies were up to 2 lbs. Average size being 12 inches. Several blues were boated and two keeper stripped bass. Sea bass were up to 5 lbs.
Saturday- September 16, 2006 AM Trip
Saturday was a late start leaving at 10:00 Am. We Started out jigging for blue-fish. We our limit of blues by around 12:30 and switched over to Bottom Fishing.
Porgies had a tremendous start. Porgies up to 3lbs. Plenty of shorts mixed in. A few sea-bass also were seen.
By the end of the trip the tide slacked off and the rest of the trip was used for laughter among friends. The trip got back to the dock around 6:00 P.M. with more fish than they knew what to do with .
Wednesday -- September 13, 2006 AM Trip
We started jigging for Blues and within 2 hours after leaving the Dock everyone had their buckets filled. The largest one and eventual pool winner was around 12 lbs.
We then shifted over to Porgies and soon lots of Jumbos were coming over the rail. Later when we lost the tide, the Porgies started getting smaller, but keepers were still being caught.
As the tide started to switch to incoming the larger fish started to to become more frequent. There was a beautiful 5 lb Sea Bass and several other keeper Sea Bass on board. Someone caught a nice keeper blackfish which was released unharmed. I can't wait for the Tog season to open.
All in all it was a great day, everyone had their share of fish and went home smiling. This weekend should be even better.
Monday -- September 11, 2006 AM Trip
Went out this morning with 8 customers with low expectations due to the NE wind at 10-20 knots and 2 -4 ft waves. The first few drops it was small Porgies here and there. Which is just what everyone expected. Then we moved out to deeper (and Rougher) water and Bang we were bagging Porgies to 2.5 plus lbs with some nice blues mixed in. And the biggest Sea Bass I've seen all year. As soon as this blow goes by, I believe the fishing will improve greatly.

Jack & his son Andrew 12 caught- 11 keepers up to 8 lbs
